Hi. I'm Rebecca.
During 11 years as a freelance writer, I've written hundreds of features on health, parenting, relationships and — my favorite topics — education and historic homes. Whether putting together a breaking news story or a human-interest piece, I pride myself on producing efficient and spirited articles.
My undergrad schooling was a combo of English Education with journalistic training. My master's degree is in communication and rhetorical studies — and it really is true that everything carries persuasive power. I graduated magna cum laude and summa cum laude, respectively, in my fields of study.
Currently I act as copywriter for a local company that does business internationally. Previously I worked as editor of Idaho State Journal's daily Family page and as editor of the Journal's Flourish magazine, a publication highlighting local homes and what the good life out West looks like. As editor I wrote features, issued assignments to other freelancers, edited their work, managed photos with a staff photographer and laid out the magazine — all from the desk in my bedroom.
In addition to years of writing for local publications, I've worked as an adjunct faculty member for a private university's English department and been paid to edit books for a Salt Lake City self-publishing house.
My greatest passions include historic homes, the rhetoric of housing, propaganda posters, best practices in education, parenting the individual child and, of course, writing.
I am confident I can tell a story better than the next guy or gal and with quicker turnaround too. That's because curiosity, work ethic and a love of words drive me. Let me help drive your publication.
